The Jewel Ball – Mary Shaw “Shawsie” Branton
Mary Shaw “Shawsie” Branton (Mrs. William Coleman Branton) will serve as the honorary chairman of the 60th Anniversary Jubilee of The Jewel Ball, to be held on June 21st at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Shawsie was the chairman of the 1983 Jewel Ball. Shawsie’s two daughters participated in The Jewel Ball. Leslie Branton Hoffecker was a debutante in 1968 and Page Branton Reed was a debutante in 1974. Shawsie’s grandchildren have participated in the Ball as well. Margaret Henley Hoffecker served as a page in 1992 and was a debutante in 2004, and Thomas Coleman Hoffecker was a floor committee member in 2006. William Coleman Reed was a floor committee member in 2008, and Mary Gentry Reed was a page in 1999 and a debutante in 2011.
