2021 BOTAR President
The Belles of the American Royal are pleased to announce that Julie Miller McCann will continue in her role as BOTAR president for 2021. Julie is a BOTAR, class of 1988. Her long history with BOTAR includes serving on the Executive Committee as recording secretary in 2002, The BOTAR Ball vice president in 2004, and vice president of BOTAR activities in 2018, in addition to being benefactor co-chairman. Julie is devoted not only to BOTAR, but to volunteer efforts for numerous organizations in Our Town, including The Jewel Ball, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, The Symphony League, Christmas in October, St. Teresa’s Academy, and Rockhurst High School, to name just a few.
Julie is the daughter of Bernadette Miller and the late Richard William Miller. A graduate of St. Teresa’s Academy, she earned a bachelor of arts degree from Boston College. Her husband, Michael Langdon McCann, was a BOTAR escort in 1990. Julie and Mike are the parents of five children: Emily, who was a BOTAR Page in 2003 and is a BOTAR, class of 2017; Brendan, a BOTAR escort in 2018; Claire, a BOTAR Page in 2008, Colin, and Francie, a BOTAR Page in 2012.
The BOTAR Ball will be held on October 23rd at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.
