The inimitable Sophian Plaza building celebrated a centennial anniversary! The opening of the building provided such fanfare that the Kansas City Star devoted the top half of the front page of the Real Estate section on February 25, 1923 to the extravaganza. Fast forward to 2023 and a year filled with special celebrations, including a Birthday Party, an Historian Talk, and a Centennial Finale. The black and white marble lobby served as the venue for the Finale, complete with residents in 1920’s attire, jazz and swing music, and awards for best-dressed participants. A black and white dessert table, a black and white signature cocktail, and similar decorations provided the ambiance for the festive evening.
